Property Maintenance Person NeededGeneral Builder and or Property Maintenance person required, a person, or jack-of-all-trades needed, Successful person would be responsible for maintaining the property and training,directing and overseeing volunteers/Interns who wish to help with the property restoration and maintenance at La Giraudiere. This would be a chance for both you and the volunteers/interns to learn some new skills. You would be overseeing both new projects and also the maintenance of what is in place. The Property Maintenance professional/ Technician will supervise, help, train and oversee the volunteers that are allocated to him/her, health and safety being the number one priority and the training and the acquiring of knowledge and skills for the volunteers/Interns the number two. The pressure to get the job done does not exist. You would be working with and responsible to the program director Paul. You would be part of a team that is responsible for seeing that everything possible is done to make the program a rewarding one for the participating volunteers and interns. Work would include building, Repairs and maintenance as needed, painting, maintenance of appliances and tools, basic plumbing, basic heating and electrical repairs. Trade Requirements You should have general property maintenance or building knowledge including the ability to paint, carry out basic woodwork, knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems and installations an advantage as required for the basic maintenance and upkeep of the apartments and buildings. An up-to-date knowledge of current health and safety regulations respective to your country which would probably apply here in France if EU standard. Personal Requirements good communication skills personal drive, initiative and resourcefulness management and team leadership ability as you will have volunteers to coach and supervise problem-solving ability. Team player. Would be of assistance Whilst a knowledge of French building regulations, systems and methods would be useful it is not necessary as this can be learned during your working holiday. A little knowledge of the French language would be useful Maybe you have trained apprentices before or worked in a technical college as here you will have volunteers wanting to help you and learn from you. A driving license would be very useful if not essential. When Needed For the coming season which starts in May and finishes October, the successful candidate would be required to arrive at least a week prior to the start of the season for orientation. You can apply for part of the whole season or part of, just mention the dates you are available upon your application. The Hours of Work Emergency apart, the normal requirements are as follows, Monday & Friday half day each day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Monday and (or) Friday 6 hours required 9.00 - 12.00 or 2.00-5.00 (this time is for meetings, planning and preparing for the week to come) Tuesday 8 Hours 8.30 - 1.00 Lunch 2.00 - 5.30 Wednesday 8 Hours 8.30 - 1.00 Lunch 2.00 - 5.30 Thursday 8 Hours 8.30 - 1.00 Lunch 2.00 - 5.30 The total hours required = 30 hours plus maybe needed for any emergencies or unforeseen problems.
