It’s market day at LG and our volunteers are happy to walk around Chalais, practice their French and explore the different shops and street vendors that gather around town every Monday. While there, Denise, Emilie, Marlou and Marisela had a chance to take a look at the English bookstore and had a lovely cup of coffee.
Later that day they met Paul at the train station to pick up our new arrival Elizabeth, who was surprised and happy to see such a big welcoming committee. However the biggest surprise was yet to come, for all the volunteers had been invited to Jean-Michel and Indira’s house to a lunch fête! Jean-Michel and Indira had prepared a succulent meal that included pate, mussels, locally grown chicken and fries. It was the first time for Emilie eating mussels, and she said to enjoy them quite a lot. So everyone was happy.
After lunch, Elizabeth headed out with Paul to LG, while the rest of the volunteers had a tour of Jean-Michel and Indira’s property and then decided to walk back to LG.On the way, they ran into an old Roman wall, which is thought to be the remains of a temple. Here is a photo we took of the historic wall.
