Monday morning was pretty standard, we all headed off to Chalais market! Well, not quite all of us, many LGers were still very tired the next morning so chose the option of staying in bed, so it was just Mark, Gayle, Derrick, Marlou and Emily who headed off there. We headed up to the castle to have a coffee but to our dismay it appears to no longer be open on a Monday. Instead Mark, Marlou and Emily headed off to Fernando’s while Gayle and Derrick made their way to Aubeterre for the day.
After lunch, Paul, Mark and Emily went off to do the weekly shop while the others went off to the lake to enjoy a dive from the rope swing at the lake. Although Marlou was a bit scared at first, she did manage to save the women’s reputation by swinging into the water without hurting herself. Irvin however was not scared at all and even swung upside down and dove in the lake like a fish would jump in to the water. Their time also consisted of crazy golf, bouncy castles, trampolines and swings!
For dinner we were going to be enjoying another lovely dinner cooked by Mark. This week it was a vegetable casserole plus his very own home made garlic bread. New arrival Emily from England (this could get confusing…) came just in time to enjoy the meal with us which she was very glad about after having travelled all day long!
After dinner we all headed down to pétanque – this time it would be Galye, Derrick and Emily’s first time playing it and they were great! Emily (who will now be known as Emilie in this blog to make things easier!) teamed up with Emily and Hugh who beat John, Irvin and Marlou while Paul and Gayle beat Mark and Derrick. Afterwards was a competitve game with the locals, John, Hugh and Emily were doing so well but in the end sadly got defeated by Paul, Gayle and Monique. At least there’s always Friday!
